Spotted Lanternflies Are Back

Jump to calendar

The Spotted Lanternfly (SLF) is an invasive species that threaten Pennsylvania’s agriculture and homeowners’ trees.  SLFs attack fruit trees and feed on the sap in the trunks, leaves, and branches of trees. They will appear like a reddish-orange beetle with black and white spots.

What to do if you see any:

  • Kill them
  • Remove host plants
  • Apply insecticides
  • Wrap tree trunks with sticky tape or duct tape
  • Report them to the state
Whether you find one or many, it is important to report their presence to the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture.

More information about SLFs is available on this Fact Sheet.
