Zoning Hearing Board

The Zoning Hearing Board hears appeals to decisions of the Zoning Officer and requests for variances from the Zoning Ordinance. They are empowered by state law to make determinations and grant variances and special exceptions to requirements of the Zoning Ordinance.

Zoning ordinances regulate uses of land by establishing regulations based on:

• areas and dimensions of land and structures
• density of population
• intensity of use
• protection and preservation of natural and historic resources.
