New Trash Contract

Middletown Township's New Trash & Recycling Services

In 2025, Middletown Township will begin its new 5-year contract with Waste Management with key service changes.
Starting Monday, January 6, 2025, the following changes will take effect:

What's New?
  • Once-a-Week Automated Pickup: Trash, recycling, and yard waste will now be collected on the same day, streamlining your waste management.
  • Wheeled Carts: Every household will receive two (2) new 96-gallon wheeled carts – one for trash and one for recycling. Carts will be delivered to homes in mid-December.
    • Prefer a smaller cart? After the first quarter, you can request a 65-gallon cart instead.
  • Collection Day: Most residents will keep one of their current trash days.  Residents’ new collection dates will be announced later this fall.
  • Old trash/recycling cans: Old trash and recycling bins can be repurposed for yard waste or labeled as bulk on collection day for disposal. Residents can also put their old trash can inside of their new cart for pick up on their regular trash day.  The “Middletown Township” blue recycling bins distributed last year can be used at the curb in place of a 96-gallon cart.
Recycling & Yard Waste
  • Recycling: Picked up alongside your trash – simple, convenient, and efficient.
  • Yard Waste: No changes here! Continue using the same yard waste procedures on your regular collection day.
Special Features
  • Bulk Pickup: Scheduled for the third week of every month, on your regular collection day. Each household is allowed up to two bulk items. Need more? Schedule an On-Demand Pickup through the WM App (residents will pay directly to Waste Management).
Townhome Neighborhoods
  • Manual Collection: If you live in Tareyton, Hollybrooke, Villas of Middletown, or Windybush, all waste will still be collected manually.
Getting Started
  • Cart Delivery: Your two (2) new wheeled carts will arrive in December, but please do not use them until the new collection schedule starts the week of January 6th. When placing them out for collection, ensure the wheels face your home and leave at least 3 feet of space from cars or other obstacles for easy pickup.
  • The "My WM" App: Stay updated with pickup schedules, manage your account, and even schedule bulk pickups right from your phone!
Need More Info?
  • Damaged Carts? Waste Management will repair or replace them at no charge once reported.
  • Extra Trash or a Second Cart? Residents have the option to get an additional cart for $12/month per cart through Waste Management.  One (1) trash and one (1) recycling cart will be provided as part of the basic service.
Holiday Schedule
  • When holidays occur, all collections will be delayed by one day during that service week. For example, a Monday holiday will delay all collections by one day.
