Halloween is ON in Middletown!

We’re sharing useful tips and ideas to make sure trick-or-treaters, families, and homeowners are able to celebrate Halloween Safe.  The CDC has shared guidance on safe Halloween practices, which we are recommending in our community.

Tips for trick-or-treaters:

  • Stay home if sick
  • Trick or treat with people in your home
  • Remain 6 feet apart from people not in your household
  • Inspect candy for suspicious materials
  • Wear a face mask covering BOTH your mouth and nose (even under or over your Halloween mask)
  • Sanitize your hands frequently while out, especially during key times like before eating and after coughing/sneezing

Tips for parents:

  • Stay home if sick
  • Talk with your children about safety, social distance guidelines, and your expectations for the evening
  • Guide children to stay on the right side of the road and to watch for vehicles
  • Carry a flashlight at night and ensure your children have reflective clothing.
  • Wear a face mask covering BOTH your mouth and nose (even under or over your Halloween mask)
  • Wash your hands as soon as you get home
  • Inspect candy for suspicious materials

Tips for homeowners:

  • If you are sick, do not hand out candy
  • Wear a face mask covering BOTH your mouth and nose (even under or over your Halloween mask)
  • Wash your hands throughout the evening
  • Use tape to mark 6-foot lines in front of your home leading to your front door
  • Position a distribution table between yourself and trick or treaters
  • Distribute candy on a disinfected table to eliminate direct contact
  • Turn off your exterior lights if you would not like to participate in Halloween.

Thank you for doing your part to Middletown Safe, and we wish you a Happy Halloween!
